In the heart of the city
The 600th anniversary of the University of Leipzig also coincided with the opening of the new campus at the traditional location „Augustusplatz“. Here, students and teaching staff find modern learning and working conditions as well as an inspiring environment in the heart of the city.
Besides the lecture halls and seminar rooms, the Campus Augustusplatz comprises a canteen, the University’s computer centre, the University’s radio station as well as the Campus library and the Paulinum.

By car
Autobahn A9 (Berlin - München): exit at Großkugel to interstate B6 or exit at Leipzig West to interstate B181, follow directions to Leipzig's inner city („Innenstadt Leipzig“). Autobahn A 38 (Göttingen - Leipzig): exit at Kreuz Rippachtal to interstate B87 , follow directions to Leipzig's inner city („Innenstadt Leipzig“). Autobahn A 14 (Nossen – Magdeburg): exit at Leipzig Mitte to interstate B2 or exit Leipzig Nordost to interstate B87, follow directions to Leipzig's inner city („Innenstadt Leipzig“). Follow the city's inner ring until Augustusplatz at the Georgiring. Underground parking (chargeable) is next to the university building at Augustusplatz.
By train
Intercity- and Intercity-Express-trains connect Leipzig to almost all European cities. The Augustusplatz Campus is within a 5 minutes walk from the train station. Leave the station at its head side, cross the tram station and walk down Nikolaistraße or Goethestraße in direction of the City Tower. If you take the tram: it is one station south with lines 10, 11 or 16 or one station east with the tram lines 4, 7, 12 or 15. Leave the tram at Augustusplatz station.
By plane
Leipzig/Halle airport is about 30 minutes from the city centre by car. A train connects the airport to Leipzig's main train station. Trains leave every 30 minutes, time of travel is about 15 minutes. The Augustusplatz Campus is within a 5 minutes walk from Leipzig's train station. Follow the directions described above. If there are no direct flights from your city to Leipzig, you can reach Leipzig via Berlin (about one hour train ride from Leipzig), Frankfurt am Main or Hannover (about three/ three and half hours train ride to Leipzig). From these cities, trains frequently depart for Leipzig.
